Lady Hawks Swept by #10 Mississippi College

ROME, Ga. – The Lady Hawks dropped their third home conference series at Alto Park Softball Complex this weekend versus Mississippi College. 


Shorter University 1, Mississippi College 11
The Lady Hawks lost game one 1-11. Alana LoydChloe Jones, and Madison Pettigrew combined to pitch the seven innnings contest. The lone run for the Lady Hawks offensive came on Kaylee George reaching on an error to the shortstop that scored Alex Hollingsworth

Shorter University 3, Mississippi College 11
In game two of the series, the Lady Hawks got on the board in the 1st inning on a 3-run homer dead center by Peyton Hill. Rylee Gattis and Emily Brunson both made appearances on the mound, Gattis taking the loss from her four earned runs given up through 4.2 innings.


Shorter University 0, Mississippi College 16
The Lady Hawks were not able to wake up offensively Sunday afternoon in their 0-16 loss in game three. They were led by Sophomore, Ashton Stevens who had a 2-for-2 day. Their only other hit came on a 2-out roped line drive up the middle by Freshman, Riley Heard in the bottom of the 4th. Alana Loyd, Emily Brunson, and Rylee Gattis all entered the circle in the contest. Loyd took the loss for her eight earned runs given up through 0.2 innings pitched.

The Hawks will travel to Pensacola, Fla. for another conference match-up against the University of West Florida Argonauts this weekend. They will play a doubleheader Friday starting at 1PM (CST) and a single game at 12PM (CST) on Saturday.
