Pensacola, Fla. --Â The Lady Hawks season came to an end Saturday afternoon, as they fell to No. 20 West Florida in straight sets in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
With the loss, Shorter finishes the season with a 17-11 overall record and a 14-6 conference mark. While, the Argos move on to face North Alabama in Sunday's championship match with an overall record of 28-5, and 19-1 in the conference.
Set scores were 25-22, 25-15, and 25-20, respectively.
Elizabeth Dowd led the Lady Hawks with six kills on the day, while both
Tiffani Estep and
BreAnna Thompson chipped in the five. Dowd also turned in two of Shorter's five service aces on the day. And,
Cheyenne Frady and
Dena Pierce tallied 12 and 13 assists, respectively.
Defensively,
Cheyenne McLemore led the effort, recording a team high 19 digs. Dowd chipped in with 14 and Pierce added 12 in the match. At the net, Shorter posted five blocks with
Alicia McClellan having a hand in three.
