ROME --Â The Lady Hawks closed out the home portion of the season Sunday afternoon, falling to Christian Brothers 1-0.
Shorter will wrap of the season on Friday, October 30, at longtime rival Lee University. Game time is set for 7:00pm in Cleveland, Tenn.
With the loss Shorter slips to 7-9 on the season and 4-7 in the Gulf South Conference; while Christian Brothers improves to 9-6-1, and 5-5-1 in the GSC.
Despite having numerous chances in the first half, neither team could push ahead as they took a 0-0 tie into the break. In total, the Lady Bucs held a narrow advantage in shots during the period with 9, to Shorter's 7. Of those 7, the Lady Hawks placed two on target only to have CBU goalkeeper, Autumn Woods, come up with the stops on both.
In the second half, the Lady Hawks looked to have broken the stalemate as Chanel Mosely delivered a header off of a corner kick, but the ball went wide. The shot was Shorter's lone attempt in the second frame. Christian Brothers, who'd tallied 11 shots in the half, finally found the go ahead in the 82nd minute on a shot from Ingrid Mello.
Haley Lademann played the complete game in goal for Shorter, her last at Ben Brady as a member of the Lady Hawks. The senior made 7 saves in the game. Also, playing in their final home games were
Casey Gregg, who started her first game of the season, and
Katelyn Mullenix with both helping to anchor Shorter's defense to keep the Lady Hawks in the game. Â
