Cleveland, Miss. -- It was a tough night for the Lady Hawks as they fell to Delta State on the road, 58-36.
Shorter moves to 7-9 overall with the loss and 3-7 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Lady Statesmen improve to 8-6 on the season and 6-4 in conference play.
Delta State jumped out to an early lead and didn't look back, holding the Lady Hawks to a meager 24 percent shooting in the game. Shorter; who entered the game as the GSC's leader in the 3-point FG percentage, was held to just 13 percent on the night – making just 3 of 22 shots taken.
Ieshia Alexander paced the Lady Hawks; turning in a team high 12 points, while Shuandricka Mann tallied 9 rebounds in the game.
The Lady Statesmen had three players finish in double figures; with Becca Rukes leading with a game high 14. Both Chelsey Rhodes and Seneca Walton added 11.
Shorter will look to get back on track Thursday as they return home to take on longtime rival, Lee University, at 6:00pm at the Winthrop-King Centre.
