Mosley named GSC Freshman of the Week, Lady Hawks begin conference play

ROME -- With Gulf South Conference play set to begin Wednesday, women's soccer will be entering the game against North Alabama with newly honored GSC Freshman of the Week in tow. Chanel Mosley, a native of Woodstock, Ga., earned the recognition this week after netting both goals in Shorter's 2-0 win over Truett-McConnell last Tuesday evening.

The recognition is the first for a Lady Hawk this season, in any sport. She joins Silas Too and Jordan Shaw – cross country and football, respectively – in receiving a player of the week honor.

In four games for Shorter, Mosley, has tallied two goals and one assist while also helping the Lady Hawks' defense to an excellent start.

Shorter will look to keep the momentum going as they travel to Florence, Ala. Wednesday evening taking a program best 4-0 start into the game. North Alabama; who began conference play over the weekend against Alabama Huntsville and Lee, is 4-1-1 on the season and 1-1 against GSC opponents.

Both teams have combined to allow just three goals on the season, with the Lady Hawks topping the GSC with only one goal allowed so far.
