Florence, Ala. -- Lady Hawks' volleyball stayed perfect in conference play with a 3-1 win over North Alabama Thursday evening on the road. The win improves Shorter to 4-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Gulf South.
The first game was a back-and-forth affair that saw the Lions earn the win, 35-33. But, the Lady Hawks fought back from the 1-0 deficit to sweep the next three games, each by a final score of 25-21.
Shorter had four players finished with double-figure kill totals, with
Jasmine Crook leading the way with a match high 14.
Erica Baker tallied 13 kills on the night, while
Anna Graham finished with 12 and
Elizabeth Dowd posted 11.
Dowd also led the Lady Hawks with 19 digs in the game. Crook added 18, and
Cheyenne McLemore posted 13 in Shorter's win.
Dena Pierce and
Cheyenne Frady combined for 50 assists in the game – Pierce with 27 and Frady with 23.
Andrea de Leon lead North Alabama with 19 digs and 28 assists while Ashtyn Kapovich tallied a match high 25 digs.
The Lady Hawks will return to Gulf South Conference action Saturday in the first home game of the season as Valdosta State visits the Winthrop-King Centre for a 1:00pm start.
