MLAX falls to Florida Southern

Box Score Lakeland, Fla.--Men's lacrosse wrapped up its Florida road trip Saturday afternoon with a 28-6 loss to Florida Southern College.

The loss moves the Hawks to 2-4 on the season.

Florida Southern jumped out to an early lead, scoring six times in the first period while holding Shorter scoreless.
The Hawks got on the board in the second frame, netting four goals; the first from Andrew King with 13:47 to play. Matt Kristiansen scored his first goal of the game four minutes later, and Tyler Kristiansen closed out the scoring for Shorter with back-to-back goals; the first with 3:29 to play, and then again at 2:47 remaining in the half.

Florida Southern scored eight times during the second frame to take a 14-4 lead in to the intermission, and added nine goals in the third and five in the fourth to earn the win 28-6.

M. Kristiansen scored twice more in the game; once in both the third and fourth periods.

JR Willers played the first three quarters for Shorter allowing 23 goals, and making eight saves on 31 shots faced. Tanner Short came in for the fourth quarter for the Hawks, making 3 saves on 8 shots faces.

Florida Southern outshot Shorter 58-16; while also holding the advantage in ground balls 46-23 and in face-off wins 26-13.

The Hawks will be back in action Friday, March 14, as Lynn University visits Ben Brady Field for a 5pm game.
