ROME -- The Hawks season came to an end Friday afternoon with a 2-1 loss to Lee University in the semifinals of the 2014 NCCAA National Championship Tournament.
Shorter finishes the year with an overall record of 12-11-1, while the Flames advance to Saturday's finals against Bethel with an overall record of 10-9-2.
Lee got on the board first as Quade Marinell scored on an assist from Justin Furey in the 23
rd minute. Three minutes later
Irvin Espinal knotted the game at one each as he found the back of the net on a feed from
Ryan Horn. David Perez's go ahead goal for the Flames came in the 68
th minute.
Nicolas Ferrigno, recorded four saves for the Hawks in a complete game performance.
Offensively, Shorter outshot Lee 19-12 in the game and held a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal.
