ROME --Â The Lady Hawks closed out 2014 Saturday afternoon falling to North Alabama 88-75 at home.
With the loss, Shorter moves to 6-6 on the season and 2-4 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Lions improve to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
North Alabama took the lead early in the first half using an eight minute, 21-5 run halfway through the frame to put the game out of reach for the Lady Hawks. The Lions led 47-30 at the intermission, and by as many as 29 in the final twenty minutes en route to the win.
Ieshia Alexander led Shorter with 19 points;
Cynara Pitt also finished in double figures with 12 points in the game.
Four players for North Alabama posted double figures with Jennifer Towne leading with a game high 24. Mekena Randle added 21, Jaclyn Heath recorded 14 and Corinne White chipped in with 11.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action after the holidays on January 3 as West Alabama visits the Winthrop-King Centre for a 2:00pm tip. Â
