Hawks earn fourth seed in GSC tournament with win over Lee

ROME -- Four different Hawks scored Friday afternoon as Shorter topped longtime rival, Lee University, 4-2 to close out the regular season.

Robert Ochieng put the Hawks (7-9-1, 5-4 GSC) on the board in the 33rd minute as he headed in a corner kick from Charlie Dennis. After the break, Dennis got in on the action again, this time adding a goal of his own to extend the lead to 2-0 at the 59:25 mark, three minutes later Nico Stutley made it a 3-0 game.

Lee (7-7-2, 2-5-1 GSC) broke the shut out in the 71st minute as Garrison Adams netted a penalty kick. But, Lucas Cavenco found the back of the net on the next drive to make bring Shorter's lead back to three.

Matt Brady closed out the scoring for the Flames at the 78:52 mark on a feed from Myles Scott, for the 4-2 final score.

Shorter outshot Lee 14-10, and held the advantage 8-7 in shots on goal.

Nicolas Ferrigno played the complete game in goal for the Hawks, making five saves. Joey Hinshaw tallied four saves for the Flames through 90 minutes.

Shorter will now turn its attention to postseason as the win officially gave the Hawks the No. 4 seed for the GSC tournament and hosting duties for the quarter final game on Tuesday, November 4, against the No. 5 seed; which is yet to be determined.
