Jackson, Tenn. --Â It was a tough night for the Lady Hawks as they fell to Union 1-0 on the road.
The loss, Shorter's fifth of the season moves the Lady Hawks to 10-5 overall and 5-5 in conference play; while the Bulldogs move to 3-10 on the season as they tallied their first conference win to move to 1-8 in the GSC.
Statistically, teams both posted pretty even attacks, with the Lady Hawks just edging past Union in the shot column 16-15. Both posted 9 shots on goals. But what hurt Shorter most on Friday night was the offside call as they were called 6 times to Union's 1.
Corrie Thomas led the attack for Shorter; recording 9 shots in the game, with 6 on target.
Tabea Kirchner tallied 2 shots, but both were saved by Union goalkeeper, Emily Waggoner; who recorded 9 saves in the game.
Alden Powell, who sat the last two games with an injury, was back in goal for the Lady Hawks; where she turned in another complete game performance. Through 90 minutes she tallied 8 saves, while giving up the only goal of the night in the 70th minute to give Union the win.
The Lady Hawks will look to get back in the win column Sunday as they travel to Memphis to take on a tough team in Christian Brothers. Game time is set for 2:00pm eastern.
