Lady Hawks unable to stop No. 11 Delta State

Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Shorter women's basketball team capped a two-game Gulf South Conference road swing Monday afternoon when the Lady Hawks were handed a 64-48 defeat by No. 11-ranked Delta State.

The setback leaves the Lady Hawks with a 4-7 overall record and a 2-3 GSC slate heading into another conference showdown Thursday night at home at the Winthrop-King Centre when Shorter hosts Alabama-Huntsville.

Delta State, which holds a perfect 5-0 record and is 10-1 overall, made the most of its depth and size against Shorter as the Lady Statesmen outrebounded the Lady Hawks 44-26 and saw its bench outscore SU's reserves 15-3.

Shorter trailed by just eight points at the half, but in the final 20 minutes managed to connect on just 31 percent of its shots of the floor.

Kristin Nash led the Lady Hawks with 16 points, while Karisma Boykin and Lynette Harris were the only other Shorter players to finish in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Delta State's Chelsey Rhodes led all scorers with 18 points.
