Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. - The Shorter Lady Hawks were unable to overcome a slow start when they were handed a 91-72 Gulf South Conference defeat by Union Thursday night.
The loss gives Shorter a 5-12 overall record and a 3-8 GSC mark heading into Saturday night's conference clash against North Alabama in Florence, Ala.
Against Union, the Lady Hawks found themselves facing a 23-point halftime deficit when the home team raced out to a commanding 48-25 lead which proved to be the difference as Shorter held its own in the final 20 minutes outscoring Union 47-43.
Four Lady Hawks ended the night finishing in double figures as
Ieshia Alexander led the team with 20 points,
Karisma Boykin added 18, and
Kristin Nash and
Lynette Harris had 13 each, but only two other players managed to break into the scoring column.
Union (13-4, 8-3), which outscored Shorter 21-6 off the bench, was led by Amy Philamlee's game-high 30 points.
The Lady Hawks return home next week hosting GSC foe Christian Brothers on Thursday, Feb. 6.
