Lady Hawks top Clark Atlanta, 55-52

Box Score By Karen Allen

ATLANTA--
The Lady Hawks improved to 3-4 on the season as they topped Clark Atlanta, 55-52, on the road Monday evening.

Shorter, who dropped the first meeting of the two teams this season, was eager to pick up where they left off after Saturday's conference victory over West Georgia, and that's just what they did.

The Lady Hawks jumped out to a big lead, going on a 16-0 run to start the game. Denissea Law broke the scoreless streak and put Clark Atlanta on the board on a jumper with 12:57 to play in the half. For the remainder of the half the Lady Panthers outscored the Shorter 20-10, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Hawks took the 26-22 advantage into the intermission.

Clark Atlanta tied the game three times during the second half, but Shorter hung on and took the lead for good with 3:48 to play on the first of a set of free throws from Ieshia Alexander. All told, the Lady Hawks shot 69.6% from the line with Lynette Harris going 4-4, Alexander connecting on 4 of 5.

Alexander just missed recording a double-double in the game; scoring 15 points and pulling down 9 rebounds. Karisma Boykin chipped in with 10 points in the game. Shorter made the most of the opportunities it was given as they scored 15 points on turnovers and 15 off the bench.

The Lady Hawks will return home Wednesday and Friday as Union and North Alabama visit the Winthrop-King Centre for a pair of conference games before the holiday break. Both games are set to begin at 6:00pm.
