ROME--Men's basketball evened its record to 3-3 with a 104-81 victory over the College of Faith Monday evening.
The Hawks got off to a rocky start, and trailed by as much as six during the opening minutes of the game. It was back and forth between the teams, for most of the opening frame, with the score tying six times before Shorter found its stride and took the lead for good with 4:47 in the first half on a layup from
Travis Jones.
Leading 45-33 at the break, the Hawks scored 15 points off turnovers and 13 off the bench. The second half picked up just where the first left off, and Shorter was able to increase its lead by as much as 30 during the frame, and come away with the victory, 104-81.
Shorter was led offensively by Kurtis Woods; who turned in 23 points for the Hawks.
Brock Rowan came off the bench to add 16, both
Brandon Pullman and
Jordan Jacks chipped in with 14, and Jones recorded 13 points in the game.
Jacks turned in his third double-double of the season by also pulling down 11 rebounds.
College of Faith's Mike Campbell led all scorers with 35 points in the game, while also recording 13 rebounds.
The Hawks will be back in action December 14 as conference play begins when West Georgia visits the Winthrop-King Centre for a 4pm tip.
