ROME—In their final game at Ben Brady this season, the women's soccer team went out on top; defeating the visiting Lady Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan by a 4-1 margin.
The win improves the Lady Hawks to 6-11 on the season.
Kelli Davis put Shorter on the board with just over two minutes off the clock, but Tennessee Wesley tied the game in the 17th minute on an unassisted goal by Kaitlyn Poulakis.
However, just a minute later
Aline Tamiosso scored her first goal of the game, and gave the Lady Hawks a lead they wouldn't lose.
With the score 2-1 at the intermission, the Lady Hawks looked to extend the margin, and did just that as Tamiosso scored twice more in the second half; first, on an assist from
Helena Farinha in the 69th minute, and again in the 73rd minute on a feed from
Tabea Kirchner.
Shorter outshot Tennessee Wesleyan 20-7, and held a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Taylor Hays started the game for Lady Hawks making one save through 77:32 minutes of work.
Shorter will play its final game of the season Friday, November 1, as they travel to Gulf South Conference foe Lee University for a 7:00pm game.
