Women's soccer snaps losing streak with 2-1 over Delta State

Women's soccer breaks three game losing streak with 2-1 win over Delta State on the road this Friday afternoon.

The win is the Lady Hawks fifth of the season, and brings their overall record to 5-8. In Gulf South Conference play they improve to 2-4.

Shorter got on the board first with Kelli Davis' fourth goal of the season on a cross from Aline Tamiosso at the 6:46 mark in the first half. The Lady Statesmen tied the game on a penalty kick in the 30th minute.

The game was tied 1-1 at the intermission. Through the first period, the Lady Hawks outshot Delta State 5-3; however, the Lady Statesmen posted 12 shots in the second half for a total of 15, to Shorter's 12 in the game.

Helena Farinha broke the tie in the 67th minute to give the Lady Hawks the 2-0 victory.

Haley Lademann played the entire game in goal for Shorter, making five save on six shots on goal.

The Lady Hawks will be back in action Sunday afternoon, as they complete the road trip with a stop in Memphis, Tenn. to take on the Lady Bucs of Christian Brothers. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
