Valdosta State tops women's soccer, 1-0

ROME--
Women's soccer fell to Valdosta State, 1-0, at home Wednesday afternoon.

The loss drops the Lady Hawks to 4-8 on the season, and 1-4 in Gulf South Conference play. Blazers improve to 8-1-3 overall, and 4-1-3 in the conference.

The game remained scoreless until the final seconds of the first half as Zahimara Fantauzzi found the back of the net with two seconds remaining on the clock.

Down 1-0 at the intermission, Shorter stepped up in the second half and had a few opportunities to put points on the board, but ultimately came up empty.

Valdosta outshot the Lady Hawks 22-4 overall. However, of the nine shots on goal for the Blazers eight were brought down by Shorter goalkeeper, Haley Lademann.

Helena Farinha took three shots for the Lady Hawks and Carleigh Butcher chipped in with other.

Shorter women's soccer will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Delta State and Christian Brothers. Both games are set to begin at 1:00pm eastern; Friday and Sunday, respectively.
