Shorter University Athletics

Connor McCarthy was named head coach of the Shorter Hawks Men’s and Women’s golf programs in February of 2021.  This was directly after a short stint as graduate assistant coach. In less than one year, McCarthy has led the team to new heights in the Golfstat NCAA Division 2 national rankings.  The men’s team improved fifty spots, while the women’s program has jumped twenty spots in the same time frame.

Prior to Shorter McCarthy was a 4-year collegiate golfer at the State University of New York at Cobleskill and Shenandoah University. A standout amateur golfer, McCarthy was a collegiate all-conference performer, club champion and New York State Amateur Championship finalist.

A 2020 graduate of Shenandoah with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, McCarthy is completing his MBA with a concentration in sport management at Shorter University.  At the same time, McCarthy is working towards his professional golf management and teaching certifications with the PGA of America.
