Athens, TN — The Shorter Women's lacrosse team traveled to Tennessee Wesleyan University to take on the Bulldogs and came home to Rome, GA with a tremendous win!
Game Summary: The Hawks yet again walked out onto the field excited for another win! Attacker
Cassidy Jones was the first to strike within the first quarter. She strategically set the tone for the game.
Jazzelle Ware,
Rei Voight, and
Tori Wolf were able to feed off that energy and bulldozed through the Bulldogs adding more goals to the scoreboard. In the second quarter, the Hawks defense was an incredibly strong unit. Several ground balls were picked up and brought to the attacking side by
Valerie Backer and
Natalie McCullough. The Hawks defense also held the Bulldogs off for two shot clock violations. TWU came back within the third quarter, putting three goals into the net, but the Hawks weren't finished with the battle yet.
Olivia Masters scored three beautiful goals back to back within the third quarter. By the fourth quarter,
Ariel Grimwade,
Shyla Araujo, Kaitlyn Peppers,
Maggie Wallace, and
Katerina Stevens, buried their shots into the cage finishing the battle. As the final minutes wore down, the Hawks were giddy for their win, when suddenly, defender
Emmie Tilson runs over to the attacking side and receives a perfect assist from
Tori Wolf, and shoots the final shot of the game, finally sealing the win 24-6!
