Rome, Ga. – The Hawks Softball team took on Young Harris College over the weekend at the Alto Park Softball Complex. Despite a great weekend in the box from four different starters, the Hawks were not able to pull out a series win on opening weekend.

The Hawks won Friday's game 7-2. Abby Brown doubled, and Kaylee George and Ashton Stevens singled to score a total of 7 runs. Late in the game, Hannah Carey hit a 2-run home run to try and swing the momentum for the Mountain Lions, but fortunately for the Hawks they were able to shut it down quickly. Rylee Gattis went seven innings in the circle, earning the win.
The Hawks lost games two (16-2) and three (4-5) of the series. Rylee Gattis had a two-run home run in game two, and the pitching squad included Emily Brunson (2.0). Madison Pettigrew (3.1), and Chloe Jones (1.2). Game three saw doubles by Alexa Varner and Kaylee George and a single by Alex Hollingsworth. On the mound for game three was Rylee Gattis, pitching seven innings.
