Lady Hawks Swashbuckled by Lady Bucs

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—The Lady Hawks softball team travelled to Christian Brothers University for a weekend Gulf South Conference series. With two games on Saturday, the Lady Buccaneers took both wins.
 
Game 1- CBU 5 SU 0
The Lady Bucs scored four runs in the first inning. Then plated one more run in the bottom of the fifth.
Shorter recorded a total of two hits with one from Hannah Morales and one from Hope Short.
 
Game 2- CBU 9 SU 3
Christian Brothers kept the bats hot and scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Followed by three more runs in the bottom of the third, 6-0. In the top of the fourth, Alexa Varner singled through the right side to score Peyton Tuder. The Lady Bucs plated two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, 8-1. Kaylee George plated two runs in the top of the fifth with a double to left center that scored Angela Cecere and Morales. CBU tacked on one more run in the bottom of the fifth, 9-3.
 
George and Cecere each recorded two hits. While Kaylee Combs, Morales, Short and Varner each added in one hit.
 
Up Next
The Lady Hawks will finish up the final game of the series on Sunday with first pitch set for 1p.m.
