MEMPHIS, Tenn.—The Lady Hawks softball team travelled to Christian Brothers University for a weekend Gulf South Conference series. With two games on Saturday, the Lady Buccaneers took both wins.
Game 1- CBU 5 SU 0
The Lady Bucs scored four runs in the first inning. Then plated one more run in the bottom of the fifth.
Shorter recorded a total of two hits with one from
Hannah Morales and one from
Hope Short.
Game 2- CBU 9 SU 3
Christian Brothers kept the bats hot and scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Followed by three more runs in the bottom of the third, 6-0. In the top of the fourth,
Alexa Varner singled through the right side to score Peyton Tuder. The Lady Bucs plated two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, 8-1.
Kaylee George plated two runs in the top of the fifth with a double to left center that scored
Angela Cecere and Morales. CBU tacked on one more run in the bottom of the fifth, 9-3.
George and Cecere each recorded two hits. While
Kaylee Combs, Morales, Short and Varner each added in one hit.
