MONTEVALLO,ALA.— The Lady Hawks returned back to Orr Park in Montevallo for their final doubleheader of the season. The Falcons took game one with a score of 6-0. Shorter fought back in the second to take the win in extra innings with a final of 6-3.
The Lady Hawks ended the season with an overall record of 5-34 and 1-26 GSC while Montevallo will continue their season into conference tournament with a 17-24 overall record and 12-18 in GSC.
Game One:
The Falcons came out in the bottom of the first with a grand slam from Hannah Carey and then the Falcons scored one more run in both the second and the fourth inning.
Kaylee Combs went 2-3 while
Payton Tuder added in one hit.
Game Two:
Montevallo came out scoring one run in the first, third and fourth innings. Shorter scored a run in the sixth with a homerun from Combs. Then in the seventh inning the Hawks put some pressure on the Falcons with a homerun from Tuder followed by a single from
Sydney Poston to score
Anslee Anderson and tie the game up,3-3. The Hawks were able to hold the Falcons from scoring in the bottom of the 7
th to take the game into extra innings.
Kaylee George singled to centerfield to score Tuder then
Kiera Dudley doubled to centerfield to score Anderson and George, 6-3. Shorter's defense kept tight in the bottom of the eighth to end the season on a win.
