Cleveland, Miss. -- Delta State completed the series sweep of the Lady Hawks Sunday afternoon, taking game three 2-1.

With the loss, Shorter moves to 12-16 overall and 7-10 in the GSC; while the Lady Statesmen improve to 18-16 on the season and 9-9 in conference play.

The Lady Hawks got on the board first, as Maddie Hunt scored on an RBI single from Kaylee Combs in the first inning. The 1-0 score stood until the fifth when Delta State tied things up on an RBI single from Mallory Meyers. Before an RBI single in the seventh from Kelly Byrd gave the Lady Statesmen the 2-1 win.

Payton Lippert took the loss, allowing one earned run on seven hits with three walks and eight strikeouts through 6.1 innings.

Six different players recorded a hit in the game, with Combs finishing with an RBI.

The Lady Hawks will be back in action Thursday afternoon as they host Alabama Huntsville at Alto Park. The doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00pm.
