Montgomery, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks completed the three game sweep of Christian Brothers Saturday afternoon, topping the Lady Bucs 11-2 in five innings.
Shorter improves to 9-2 on the season and 4-2 in the Gulf South Conference, while Christian Brothers moves to 3-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
The Lady Hawks got things going in the first inning as six runs crossed the plate.
Ericka Bynum started things off with a double to plate
Niki Cook.
Kori Benson then brought in Bynum and
Kameron Carter on a 2 RBI single, and
Kendall Johnson delivered and 3 RBI triple to make it a 6-0 game.
In the second, Benson added to Shorter's advantage with a grand slam to bring the score to 10-0. The Lady Bucs broke up the shut out in the third with two runs, before the Lady Hawks added a run in the fourth on a ground out from
Carson Carriker for the 11-2 final score.
Maddie Bray earned the win for the Lady Hawks; pitching 4.1 innings, while allowing no runs on two hits with four strikeouts.
Both, Cook and Benson, finished the day with two hits; while Benson tallied six RBI for Shorter.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action Saturday, February 28, as they open a three game series with Union at the Alto Park Softball Complex. Saturday's doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00pm.
