Adams returns to Rome after a brief stint as the Technical Director of Tennis of Sport company at Trinidad and Tobago, where he has spent the previous three years. At his previous stop, he managed the operations and supervision of the National Racquet Sports Centre. Prior to Trinidad and Tobago, he was a vital part of Shorter Men's and Women's Tennis from 2001-2022. In his time, Adams saw much success as associate head coach while also transitioning to head coach. In 2014 and 2015, Adams helped lead Shorter Women's Tennis to back-to-back National Championships and was named coach of the year on both occasions. On the men's side, he helped lead the Hawks to the semifinals of the 2013 NCAA Championships.
Adams has produced several All-American and conference awards in his time while also leading by example in the classroom with several of his athletes being named Academic All-American as well as academic all-conference.
As a player at Shorter, Adams had a storied career, compiling an overall record of 120-31 and being ranked nationally. For his accomplishments, he was inducted into the Shorter Hall of Fame in 2011.
Adams earned his Doctor of Education degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports University in Daphane, Alabama. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Physical Education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, and a Bachelor of Arts double degree in Public Relations and Recreation Public Relations from Shorter University.
In addition to his coaching and playing career, Adams was also an adjunct instructor in the Health and Physical Education Unit at Shorter University. He spent years teaching Health and Physical Fitness, Introduction to Tennis, and as facilitating instructor for Character Development courses.
Adams is married to Lisa Boyce Adams, and has one grown son: Andrei Adams, works in the Pharmaceutical Department at Atrium Health Floyd.
