Phil Taylor made the most of the Hawks debut over the weekend, earning the Gulf South Conference's first Player of the Week nod of the season after helping Shorter to two non-conference wins.

The junior guard from Brooklyn, N.Y. played in all 85 minutes for the Hawks, shooting 18-35 from the floor and 7-18 from three point range in two games. In his first game for Shorter, Taylor turned in a team high 36 points to lead the Hawks to an 89-74 win over Spring Hill. Then followed up the performance on Saturday with 26 points, including a three at the buzzer to force overtime, in Shorter's 106-96 win over Lemoyne-Owen.

So far on the season, he's averaging 31 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game; while, shooting 51% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc. He's also made 19 of 27 free throws.
