Lady Hawks close out ERAU Invite with sweep of Coastal Georgia

DAYTONA BEACH -- Senior Jessica Cooper led the way with eight kills as Shorter ended its stay at the Embry-Riddle Invitational with a 25-15, 25-10, 25-18 victory over Coastal Georgia on Saturday afternoon in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Shorter (20-6) unleashed a balanced attack in capturing its 20th win of the season. Leslie Welch had seven kills, Jasmine Crook finished with six kills, Tori Bradley recorded five and Loren Olive and Jessica White chipped in with four apiece.
Jordan Corder paced Shorter with 20 assists and Megan Pepe added 14 as the Lady Hawks wrapped up a weekend during which they won three of four matches, including an upset of No. 2-ranked Embry-Riddle on Friday night.
Shorter hit .257 as a team and pestered Coastal Georgia into a -.043 hitting percentage. Coastal Georgia was led by Holly Hammer's six kills, although she committed five errors and hit just .036.
The Lady Hawks return to Southern States Athletic Conference play on Monday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Mount Vernon, Ga., for a 7 pm tilt with Brewton-Parker College.
