Lady Hawks tame Golden Tigers in straight sets

ROME -- The Shorter University volleyball squad improved to 14-4 overall and 4-2 in the Southern States Athletic Conference by taking a straight set victory over visiting Brenau University, 25-14, 25-10, 25-12, in an SSAC match.
Tori Bradley secured 14 kills along with Jessica Cooper's 10 kills to lead the Lady Hawks to a flawless match.
In set one Shorter led the board 22-14 before kills by Cooper and Jordan Corder followed to polish off the match 25-14.
Shorter led set two 23-10 with multiple kills coming from Jasmine Crook and Corder. A set of errors from the Golden Tigers helped the Lady Hawks lay set two to rest, 25-10.
Shorter dominated the court in set three, jumping out to a 22-12 lead and an error from Brenau left the Lady Hawks two points shy of a victory. Kills by Bradley and Jessica White sealed the matchup for another tally in Shorter's win column, sending the Lady Hawks to a 14-4 record for the season.
Shorter hit .450 for the night while Corder led the team with 30 assists and 13 digs.
Shorter hits the road for three SSAC matches towards the end of the week. The Lady Hawks travel to Cleveland, Tenn., for a showdown with No. 6-ranked Lee University at 7 pm on Thursday before taking on Belhaven and Faulkner in an SSAC crossover event on Friday at Lee at 3 and 5 pm, respectively.
