This summer, David Roland, Campus Minister @ Shorter University, will be taking a mission team of eleven students from colleges and universities throughout Georgia. (UGA, GA Tech, Mercer University, University of North Georgia, and the Medical College of Georgia to Ghana in Western Africa.  This team will be volunteering at the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu, Ghana.  This hospital was founded by the Ghana Baptist Convention and the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1958.  All of the students participating are active in Baptist Collegiate Ministries at each of their universities.  The mission team will be in Ghana from June 4-25, 2014.  Students will help with basic medical skills of taking vital signs of patients coming to the hospital, shadowing doctors in surgeries and as they make rounds visiting patients.  The team will help in building and painting a new facility for the Women’s Nutrition Center which is to open this summer.  The students will also be visiting area schools where they will teach the youth several subjects.  While at the schools, the mission group will involve the children in sports and games.  The mission team will be able to introduce the game of softball to children and adults with any softball related donated items and will leave the donated items with the different schools they visit.
